TYNDP Scenarios Project Lead
About ENTSO-E
ENTSO-E is the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. We coordinate the cross-border system operations, system development and electricity market activities of the 40 electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) which cover 36 countries. The ENTSO-E Secretariat in Brussels provides support on technical, market and policy developments for all European TSOs in their cooperation with each other, in their joint fulfilment of their legal mandates, and in the intensive interactions with EU decision-makers, regulatory agencies, associations representing network users and other stakeholders.
We are a dynamic European association working on important and exciting projects of the electricity sector with the commitment to support the efforts towards a carbon-neutral power system. At ENTSO-E, you will contribute to building the world’s largest integrated electricity market – impacting not only those in the energy sector but also Europe’s overall economy, today and in the future!
Job description
Join the team shaping ENTSO-E’s Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) by turning complex market and system modelling into robust insights that steer Europe’s grid investments.
As TYNDP Scenarios Project Lead, you will be part of the System Development Section, contributing to the planning and delivery of TYNDP and related long-term system development assessments. You will be the project manager of the Scenario Building process under TYNDP, organising key workstreams and technical studies, driving methodological and market-modelling innovation, and ensuring strong alignment across internal teams and Working Groups. You will also ensure high-quality deliverables and effective communication of outcomes to internal governance bodies and external stakeholders.
ENTSO-E’s scenario work is a core element for various mid- and long-term system studies such as the System Needs and Cost-Benefity Analysis under TYNDP or the European Resource Adequacy Assessment (ERAA), as well as a key tool for national TSO work. ENTSO-E’s scenario building process aims to be fully pan-European, looking decades ahead up to 2050 and covering all energy carriers. The work is performed jointly with ENTSOG since several years and as required by the European TEN-E regulation. The set of scenarios covering the whole energy mix shows how to meet European climatic and energy targets. The development process combines regulatory understanding, electricity and gas TSO expertise and extensive stakeholder engagement to capture best possible data and methods.
You will work in the ENTSO-E Secretariat in Brussels, in the System Development Section, reporting to the System Planning Manager. Occasional travel (approx. 2–6 days per year) may be required.
Your responsibilities
Your tasks will vary depending on project priorities and may include, but are not limited to:
Lead the planning and delivery of key Scenarios workstreams, ensuring inputs, timelines, risks and dependencies are managed effectively, and issues are escalated when needed.
Drive methodological development for Scenarios and TYNDP assessments by coordinating input and prioritisation with internal and external stakeholders.
Initiate and steer innovation in market modelling approaches to improve the robustness, accuracy and reliability of results.
Coordinate technical studies with relevant Working Groups, providing expert support for analysis, interpretation and validation of outcomes.
Ensure high-quality deliverables by leading the drafting, review and consolidation of reports, documentation and presentations.
Coordinate data collection needs and timelines across teams and lead data quality management to strengthen dataset reliability.
Facilitate internal decision-making through clear communication with committees, steering/regional groups and other working structures.
Manage stakeholder engagement with external institutions (e.g., ACER, European Commission and stakeholder reference groups) and lead effective meetings with clear agendas, action tracking and follow-up.
Guide junior colleagues and follow up on contributions across the project team, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing and consistent delivery.
Your profile
We are looking for a motivated professional with the following skills and qualifications:
University degree preferably in engineering, energy systems, economics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
7–8 years of relevant work experience, ideally in European power system planning and development, modelling, market studies, or infrastructure assessments.
Strong knowledge of project management frameworks and familiarity with multi-stakeholder environments.
Knowledge of energy modelling approaches and techniques (e.g., market/system modelling, simulations, scenario-based assessments).
Familiarity with simulation and/or optimisation tools such as Plexos, BID, GAMS or similar.
Strong experience with data management and analysis using tools such as MS Excel, Python, SQL.
Excellent command of English (written and oral).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple deadlines.
Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
Motivation to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
